Quando a gravadora de Gaga decidiu lançar o single "Born This Way" no primeiro aniversário exato da morte de McQueen, Lady Gaga disse que isso confirmou sua crença de que o estilista britânico está operando através dela.
Gaga disse que não foi ela quem escreveu a canção. "Foi ele!", afirmou ela à revista em entrevista para a edição de maio.

McQueen, que morreu aos 40 anos, e Lady Gaga eram amigos íntimos. A cantora usou sapatos de garra de lagosta criados pelo estilista em seu vídeo musical "Bad Romance" e fez uma homenagem emocionada a ele em uma performance nos Brit Awards, em Londres, uma semana após sua morte.
Em um ensaio de moda para a "Harper's Bazaar", Lady Gaga aparece usando seus novos "chifres faciais" --protuberâncias em seu rosto que parecem surgir por debaixo de sua pele.
As protuberâncias bizarras, que também estão presentes sobre seus ombros, fazem parte do visual novo desde que ela estreou o single "Born This Way" na entrega dos prêmios Grammy, em fevereiro, levando a especulações de que ela teria feito cirurgia plástica ou estaria usando próteses.
"Nunca fiz cirurgia plástica", disse Gaga. Segundo ela, as protuberâncias "não são próteses, são meus ossos".
Ela insistiu que os ossos sempre estiveram dentro dela, acrescentando: "Eu estava esperando a hora certa para revelar ao universo quem sou de verdade".
Conhecida por façanhas como atear fogo a seu piano e usar um vestido feito de carne crua, Gaga disse ainda que os ossos se projetam para fora "quando estou inspirada" e que todo o mundo os tem, porque eles são "a luz que vem de dentro de nós".
